EDUCATIONAL SECTOR QUALIFICATIONS

Child Protection Training Courses: - Aroma Training Academy offers a range of Child Protection training and Adult Safeguarding courses for anyone who works directly or indirectly with children, young people and adults at risk.

Assessor Qualifications:- These qualification are suitable for learners who would like to become qualified assessors. There are four qualifications available depending on the area the learner will be assessing.

Teaching Qualification: - Qualifying teachers and trainers for the future. Aroma Training Academy offers the Level 3 and Level 4 PTLLS Awards. These qualification are ideal for new entrants into the teaching industry or even for those who are currently teaching and who wish to teach their subject specialism. Teaching involved in providing funding Work Based Learning (WBL) may also require a PTLLS qualification to satisfy their funding requirements.

Internal Quality Assurance Qualifications:- Aroma Training Academy offers three Internal Quality Assurance qualifications. These qualifications are designed for those working in, or looking to work in, a role as an Internal Quality Assurer or for those who do not actually wish to work in this role, but do require a greater understanding of the processess and practices involved. These qualifications have been revised and rewritten by LLUK, the Sector Skills Council, and replace the V1 award for Internal Verifiers.

Educational Support (Personal Tutors):-  At Aroma Training Academy we have some very experienced members as part of our professional team. This means that we are able to offer additional support to Primary - Key Stage 1 for children (5-7years). Our qualified tutors, who have many years of experience of teaching children of varying abilities with a variety of special educational needs. Our tutors are availble to provide private tuition outside normal teaching hours, afternoons, evenings, week-ends and during school hoildays.

For your reassurance all tutors have current advanced CRB checks.

Will I meet all of my obilgations by undertaking your training?

Training alone cannot enable an organisation to meet all of it's safeguarding responsibilities or all the safeguarding requirements of bodies such as Ofsted and CQC.

Which level of child protection training do I need?

Generally, if you come in contact with children during your place of work, you would complete the Child Protection Awareness course. If you work with children you would then go on to do the Child Protection Advanced training course. If you are a Designated Person (Child Protection Officer) or are worrking towards becoming one, you would go on to complete the

Child Protection for Designated Person's training course.

If you are the Designated Person (Child Protection Officer) for your oranisation, generally you would re-do your Child Protection for Designated Person every two years. The Child Protection Awareness and Advanced are generally completed every three years. But to be sure, check with your organisation for thier particular needs and requirements.

 

ASSESSOR QUALIFICATIONS:

Level 3 and Level 4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) – These are ideal for new entrants into the teaching industry. They are also ideal for anyone currently teaching or who wishes to teach their subject specialism.

To complement its suite of teaching qualifications Aroma Training Academy also offer the International Award in Deliverying Training

IADT Level 3 – This award is designed for learners who train others within their own organisation.

Child Protection Awareness Course

!

This course is a must for anyone who works with children.

An ideal 1/2 day introduction to the basics of child protection. The workshop looks at what child abuse is, how to spot potential signs of abuse, how to respond if you are worried about a child and the steps that must be taken to safeguard their welfare.

Who is the Course For: For anyone who comes in contact with children and young people during work, leisure or voluntary activities.

Course Benefits: Provides an introduction to child protection helping you to recognise potential abuse and know what to do if you believe a child is at risk. The course aims to define child protection, looks at the different types and signs of abuse including neglect and provides information on responding, recording & reporting strategies. It also looks at:

  • How to make your working environment safe for children, including safe practices;
  • Who to approach or report to;
  • What action to take and which legislation applies in this area;
  • An introduction to "Every Child Matters" and understanding your role and feelings.

Child Protection Advanced Course

This course is for those who have already completed the Child Protection Awareness course and need to gain an advanced knowledge of Child protection, including working towards becoming a Designated Person or Child Protection Officer, manager or policy writer.

Who the Course is for: For anyone with management responsibility for safeguarding, for example the senior designated professional. This includes but is not limited to; Managers, Employers and Trustees.

Course Benefits: The course will help you to recognise potential abuse and know what to do if you are worried about a child. It aims to take a deeper look at child protection issues, signs of abuse and neglect and provides advanced information on reporting strategies, policies and procedures. It also covers: 

  • Safe environments;
  • Safeguarding practices;
  • Reporting and referring to external agencies;
  • Legislation and it's relationship to day-to-day activity.

The course includes a step-by-step toolkit to help you work towards good practice including staff and volunteer recruitment, and child protection and human resources polices. Broaden your knowledge of child protection issues, spot warning signs, know how to report and refer and understand your role.

Duration: 1 Day

Child Protection for Designated Person Course

This course goes beyond the Awareness and Advanced Child Protection courses and focuses on a review of current knowledge, "Every Child Matters"; safer recruitment and the selection checklist, Vetting and Barring: New ways of working and safeguarding adults.

Who the Course is for: Particularly useful for managers, bursars, governors, senior staff, those responsible for safeguarding children within their organisation.

Course Benefits: The course promotes safe practice and challenge poor and unsafe practice. Identify instances in which there are grounds for concern about a child's welfare, and initiate or take appropriate actio to keep them safe. Prevent unsuitable people working with children and young people.:

Developed by our in-house child protection experts, in association with the British Equestrian Federation, the course is in line with the latest Government Guidance including "Working Together to Safeguard Children 2013".

Who the Course is for: For anyone who comes into contact with children through their volunteering in the equestrian sector.

This qualification is intended for those who wish to gain an understanding of the principles and practices of assessment without any requirement to practice as assessors.

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (QCF)

This qualification is intended for assessors who assess occupational competence in an individual's work environment.

It includes the following assessmernt methods (although not all of these require performance evidence):

  • Observation of performance of the work environment;
  • Use of others (witness testimony)
  • Examing products of work;
  • Questioning the learner;
  • Discusssing with th elearner;
  • Looking at learner statements;
  • Recognising prior learning.

Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (QCF)

This qualification is intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowldege and understanding in environments other than the work environment (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment).

It included the following assessment methods (although not all of these require performance evidence):

  • Assessments of the learners in simulated environments;
  • Skills tests;
  • Oral and written questions;
  • Assignments;
  • Projects;
  • Case studies;
  • Recognising prior learning.
